FAQ

Is my kimchi the fresh or mature type?

It is neither! We use a secret technique to ripen your kimchi to achieve the complex umami and health benefits of mature kimchi, but without the excessive sourness you get from most other kimchi retailers.

But I like sour kimchi! Should I still buy?

Yes you should! Your kimchi will continue to ripen in the fridge and its taste will develop in complexity and eventually become more sour. You may hasten the ripening process by leaving your kimchi at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. Do burp the tub (i.e. let some air out) halfway through the process though, as fermentation will produce carbon dioxide and can cause your kimchi to 'escape' :)

Ps: we try to keep a small batch of Aged Cabbage Kimchi in stock. Choose this option if you like sour kimchi!

How long can my kimchi keep?

As kimchi is a fermented product, there isn't a set expiration date. The best before dates on the package are general guidelines for when the kimchi isn't too soggy or sour.

More caution, however should be taken for banchan items (such as Mayak Quail Egg, Seasoned Cuttlefish etc) as these are not fermented items.

Where should I store my kimchi?

In your stomach, ideally :) Otherwise, keep it refrigerated between 2 to 4 degrees celcius. Your kimchi will continue to ripen in the fridge and its taste will develop in complexity, and eventually become more sour. If you are a fan of sour kimchi or want to use it for cooking, you may hasten the ripening process by leaving your kimchi at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. Do burp the tub (i.e. let some air out) halfway through the process though, as fermentation will produce carbon dioxide which may cause your kimchi to escape :)

Kimchi keeps best when there is minimal exposure to air, therefore transfer to a smaller container when required, and submerge the vegetable as much as possible in its kimchi juice.

What are the delivery arrangements after I've placed an order?

Nothing much besides calendarising your delivery date/time, and clearing space in your stomach for our delicious kimchi and banchan! Your kimchi will be packed in a thermal bag so that it reaches you fresh and chilled. Please make sure that someone is in to receive the items, otherwise, it will be left at your door.

I am gifting your kimchi to a friend. How should I go about it?

Just put your friend's name and address in the shipping address section of your order. If the gift is a surprise, leave your contact number instead, as they may be a shipping notification sent via SMS and email (if you've allowed it). However, please make sure that there would be someone to receive the kimchi on selected date/time as these are perishable items and we would not be able to arrange any redelivery.

If you have a gift message, write that in the notes section of your order and we will transcribe that onto a gift tag for you at no additional cost :) In case you are wondering, we do not include any pricing information. Each kimchi package is only identifiable by order number, and recipient's name.

Which days do you deliver?

Our deliveries are scheduled on Saturdays for 10am to 2.30pm, and 2-6.30pm. If there's no one in during these times (but soon after), let us know and we will include an ice pack in your order to prolong its freshness.

How much does delivery cost?

Normal periods: Delivery is free for all orders over $99. Orders under $99 will be charged at $9.90 per delivery. There may be additional charges for delivery to Jurong and Sentosa Island.
